This, is a spriting thread, posted by me. I've often thought to myself, "What do people think of my spriting? And what kind of spriting do other people do?" and then it came to me. This forum. I've decided to make a simple little thread for questions, tips, suggestions, comments and criticism, and what have you. To start it off, I'll just post something I sprited recently. It's Bass, aka. Forte, from the Megaman Battle Network series, (C) Capcom. comments, criticism, questions about it, ups and downs, fly at it. Just, don't shoot it down in flames.

Well, it's a nice color scheme, but that's about all you changed. You should try doing some more original work, or change certain parts of the picture. (Eyes, for example.)

Thanks, I'll try to add some more unique things next time. I'm no good at making things with spriting, but I can work on it. As for changing things like eyes, never tried it. I should do that. But. I finished doing alot of sprites in class, and I'll just post a few, one by one. This one is omega, from Megaman Zero 3. So? What do you all think? I apologise for the recurring pattern of the color red.

It's quite dark. It's pretty hard to make out the details on it. Shouldn't it be a little shinier since it's made of metal? And my editing comment still applies.

Very nice that's pretty detailed, no? I've never seen the original, so I don't have much room to critique. Looks good, nonetheless!

Well, No spriting done now. I thought I'd post and say, I'll work on doing a spriting with some editing done on it next. I'd like some suggestions too, because I'm not all that creative. :edit: I'm in drafting class as we speak. I'm thinking of making a modified sprite of zero from Megaman Zero, holding his sword, or even a real sword, as opposed to the z-sabre. Wish me luck, I shall post it when I'm done and at home. :edit again: Check it out, I finished it in like, 10 minutes. For such a job, that seems like a long time though. Seriously, it's a new thing to me, and I don't think it turned out that well. Oh well, this is a learning experience for me. Comments and suggestions, please.

Looks pretty good for the time it took. By the way, is that Link's sword? I don't know, I just think a medieval sword is out of place in Zero's hands with the exeption of a Japanese katana.
Speaking of which, why don't you take a sprite of a katana in Samurai Showdown, or some other game, and put it in Zero's hands? I think that would turn out pretty awesome.

Dude, that's actually pretty good looking. The pose looks natural for the sword. Is it scratch? (The sword, I mean.)
Here's some advice, though. The shading style is a bit inconsistent. I'd try reshading Zero so he matches the sword better.
By the way, I bet it could look awesome animated. Hint hint.

Wow, positive results? That's always a good sign. I guess I've got to make more. I'll work on making a few more frames for that animation. *return hint hint here* So yeah. Expect that to be on here sometime soon. :edit: One frame of the animation, complete. Well, at least one that took work, anyways. Comments?

...? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? :edit: GASP! I made a short gif of the first little bit. 4 frames, nothing fancy. *Wondering if the link will work, bear with me if it doesn't.*

Ah, very nice! ^_^ The "..." was nothing good or bad, just wanted to make the impression that I felt ignored due to no commenting on my previous post. But nevermind that, the animation turned out very well, Globox. Now, might you try with a katana?

Simply taking a katana from one of the SShowdown games would be simple enough. I think I'll do that in class tommorow. Sorry about not commenting on any other posts, but generally I don't have much time amongst spritings and class work. I'll try to get through the forum more whilst I'm at home. :edit: Really, really sorry I've been absent for so long. I've just had things that have kept me busy for a while. I'm in class, and I'lll get on that katana-zerothing now. Again, I apologise.

Please don't mind the double post, the last one I had was getting rather bloated. I put a katana from Hanzo in Zero's hands, but it seems rather misproportionate. Oh well, it's all about discovery. If anyone thinks this looks alright, I'll continue with it and stretch the blade trail to follow the sword.
