So, I came up with this crazy game idea that I want to try out here. Reply with suggestions and comments and I'll update this post.

Each character has, at base, 20 HP and 3 movement range. In addition, the player make created 3 abilities of their own, which will be approved by a judge before the character begins play. There are no persistent elements to the character: They start fresh every game.
Damage:
Attacker: 3d6, Defender: 2d6 Subtract Defender's total from attacker's When a character hits 0 HP, they are dead and removed from the battle
Boards:
As a basic guideline, a battlefield should have no more squares than 64 (The number on a chessboard) Obstacles (Such as water, rocks, trees, ect) may be placed and interacted with as deemed necessary
Character Creation Template:

I'd like to add an emphasis on making a balanced character. I (or someone appointed by me) will approve or deny every character before they can be used in a game. Making a godly character is a good way to get denied. Here are a few examples of overpowered:
Quadruple Spinslash - Does 18d6 damage to no defense. It's quite obvious what the problem is here. The opponent will die near 100% of the time.
Invulnerable State - Prevents all damage done to the user, but the user may not perform another action until they get out of this state. Overpowered in a standard, kill the other team game, especially one with narrow passages.
Yiddish Roulette - Does 1 damage for every factor the current day of the month has, 2 damage for half the number of months since the most recent April, and 3 damage for every 10 million results you get on Google for typing in "thach-roofed cottages". While not as outright overpowered as the other two, this move is simply too unpredictable and complex to be balanced. (Side note: as of this writing, the move does 12 damage.)
In addition these examples, I have added a character template to the first post to aid in character creation.

Ooh, this actually sounds quite interesting. I think I'll start working on a character. I'll edit this post and throw the character sheet on it when I'm done.
*Space reserved for future character sheet*
